Purchase Print

This beautiful round tower overlooks Doolin Pier and has views towards Galway bay and the Arran Islands. Built by the O’Connor family in the fourteenth century. It has been rumoured that the survivors of the Spanish Armada were sentenced to death at the castle after the failed attempt to Invade England. Doonagore castle gets it’s name from it’s owners the Gore family who arrived in Clare in 1653 and restored the castle. Doonagore castle is now owned by Irish American, John Gorman
